Will my NZ criminal record show up on Australian pre-employment background checks?
I have a conviction from 6 years ago(I didn't go to prison but it was a serious offence and I paid a fine) I have visited Aussie 3 times since without problem and always send away the consent to disclose form and get back the letter stating that I should be eligible for the SCV which I show at the border and am allowed entry so I am fairly confident that moving there next year won't be a problem(though I am still nervous at the 'should' wording they use in those letters and the fact that you can't get a definite answer until you're at the Australian border...)
My main question though is when i start going for jobs in Australia and I have to sign the inevitable police check disclosure so they can do a background check on me, will it show my nz conviction?
Thank you in advance.
depends on the job really. Any security work, or the police force, yes it will. But a general check, it wont show up. Basically, if your in a huge position on trust, police etc, then they will do extensive background checks, and it will show up.
Thanks for the reply. It's just call center work that i'll be applying for, so you think It's unlikely to come up on the sort of checks they would be doing?
Just here in nz I remember(when applying for those sort of jobs before I had a conviction) every time you were asked to sign something so they could do a police check on you.
I was Deported from Australia Back to New Zealand. Does your criminal record follow you?
I'm applying for a real estate license. Would it show up for that?
