What is the best way to get a reliable car after you move from NZ?

Hi Penny, Cars are more expensive in Australia than New Zealand, so most people we know have purchased them second hand from sites like http://www.drive.com.au/ and http://cars.ebay.com.au/
Alternatively, if you live in a city with good public transport like Melbourne, it's possible to get by without one if you live near a tram or train line. That's what we did for our first 1.5 years here!
