Builder Husband going to Sydney to work - how do we get his pay back home to NZ

Hi Again,

Hubby is away soon to work in Sydney and we are wondering what would be the best way to get his pay home to us left behind!! We thought his boss (a relative) could give him a lump sum direct and the balance sent back electronically (aware there is a charge for this).

Can anyone suggest a better process and if anyone knows how long it takes for the money to show in the receiving bank account once deposited.

Thanks for your help

Hi there,

You can use a service like Currency Online (http://bit.ly/o5cqUq) to send the money from Australia to New Zealand. A currency specialist like this is a lot cheaper than sending it through the banks or through a service like Western Union. Your husband would probably still want to send it over every 2-4 weeks (or more) rather than weekly though, to save on TT fees.

You can do the currency transfer online and it will take about 3 days to arrive in NZ. Day 1 is the day you do the currency contract and pay Aussie dollars to Currency Online. Day 2 Currency Online receive those Aussie dollars and pay them out to your NZ bank account. Day 3 you receive them.

Hope that helps!
