How to get Permanent Residency if over 45 years old under the skilled migrant category

I am 45 and have a job offer in Australia and my wife is 39 and she has one too. Will I get permanent residency through her application?

Hi Jack,

I take it you and your wife aren't New Zealand citizens? If you are both NZ citizens, then you automatically get a special category visa on arrival to Australia. If just you or your wife is a NZ citizen then the other one should be able to get in on a family visa: http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/461/

If neither of you are New Zealand citizens then the easiest option would definitely be if your wife can get a skilled visa and you come in on that. 45 is the cut off age for skilled migrant visas.

The only other options would be to get an employer sponsorship if you work in a profession that is in high demand, a tourist visa, or a study visa.

Hope that helps!
