how long do i need to live in Australia as a NZ citizen before applying for a PR visa?

You can live here for 100 years and never be entitled to become a permanent resident.
You have to have a skilled occupation or be partners with an Australian, that is the only way to get PR status, unless you lived in Australia before Feb 2001 and then its a different story.
