NZ Citizen married to Australian whats the best way to apply for citizenship

I'm a NZ citizen, I have been living in Australia for 8 years and recently married an Australian. I don't plan on heading back to NZ any time soon, so think I better protect myself by becoming an Australian citizen. I can't find an answer to this question, is it easier/faster for me to go down the New Zealander become a permanent resident route or spousal visa route. Any help would be much appreciated.
