Will they let me work in Australia?

I have a few drug related convictions. The last one was over a year and a half ago. Just got probation and community service. I have sorted my self out now. I want to progress my career. And Melbourne is a perfect place for my kind of work. I am well qualified. Cam get excellent recommendations if nessecary. But can I go work there? Do I need a visa? I've previously worked in a as a few years ago and have a tax number and bank there
