Help - I lived in Australia from 3yo to 33yo 1969 to 1999 can i go back to Australia?

i am an nz citizen can i go back to australia as a permanent resident i lived there for 30 years of my life im now 45 years old - I also have a partner can i support him if i am allowed? cheers

Hi, if you gained Australian citizenship while you were living in Australia previously you will still be entitled to all the benefits you received when you lived there before. If not, because you were not still in Australia in 2001 when the rules changed, you can still go back but it will be as a NZ citizen so you will have waiting periods before you are entitled to benefits like the dole etc. Google the Centrelink site for Aus which should give you a lot more information.
