I'm a NZ resident, not a citizen. What do I need to do to legally work and live in Australia?
I'm engaged to a Kiwi and we have a daughter. I have lived in NZ for 16 years and we would like to move to Australia. What are the rules for this situation?

You will need to apply for an Australian visa for be able to work and live here. You can look at the NZ citizen family relationship visa: http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/461/eligibility.htm Partner visa: http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/family-visas-partner.htm Or a number of other visas like the Skilled migrant one.
