First Home Start Grant and mortgages

Hey all, Im planning to move to Gold Coast early next year and am wondering if Kiwis are still eligible for the Australian First Home Start Grant of 20k? Also, I have more than enough for a large deposit, but haven't been working for several months. Does this matter for a mortgage in Australia, and will I have to be employed in Australia for a while before banks will consider me? Thank you!
