Do I have to declare bad debts before I try to move over to Australia?

I am making repayments every month at present but want to leave England. Will I be able to or do I have to clear my debts first?

If you just leave without paying debts, they will eventually find you. Would be best to clear first and then move.

Hi-I was just browsing this site when I saw this question. I had a similar situation and I moved to Australia from England. I had a lot of debts-around £60,000. This was credit cards and a house in negative equity.

I filed bankruptcy in England while I was living in Australia. I found a Company called Bankruptcy from Abroad and they acted on my behalf in the UK. I went bankrupt and this cleared all of my debts and it didn't affect my credit in OZ.

I hope this helps someone!
