Can I rent a house in Australia before moving over?
Is there any way of getting a rental property ready to move straight in from nz to aus? do they accept applications if your not currently living in aus?
It might be possible if you had someone else living in Australia rent it for you or you came over in advance of actually moving to find a place and rent it. The biggest issues with doing this are that (a) it can take quite a while to find a suitable property and then have your application approved from the dozens that usually apply (depending on where you are moving to) and (b) you will need to show that you are earning on your application in order to be approved - might be a problem if your employer is in NZ. Alternatively, you can sometimes offer to pay 6 months rent in advance if you can't show proof of earning.
Also, you often have to state you have physically viewed the property on the application form.
So, in sum, it might be possible to do it but it could take a bit of effort.

I asked this question recently at a rental agency on the Gold Coast . The answer was no . I was told they have to see you first and check references and your ability to pay the rent , see payslips , bank statements etc
