Can I have a New Zealand television converted to receive digital channels in Australia?

We recently moved to Melbourne and foolishly just assumed that our NZ televisions would work here. However, when I attached one of them to an aerial and initiated the autotune sequence, I got a message to say that no channels could be found. The older of the two sets is only three years old. I would like to know if I can have the sets tuned to receive Aussie channels and, if so, how to go about it.

Hi there, I think the short answer there is no and the easy thing would be to buy a set top box. They are actually pretty cheap anyway. I had an Australian TV in NZ a few years back and it ran on a different digital signal and therefore couldn't be tuned. A set top box was the only option, it was around $100 for an HD receiver. Try Kogan.com.au for cheap electronics like that.

Try and do a factory reset, sometimes referred to as shipping condition. This may be bring up the option of changing to Australia.
