Can I claim youth allowance as soon as I arrive?
I was born in Australia but when I was 6 months old I went to South America to live with my grandmother who brought me up. I am now 20 - can I go to Australia to study and claim the allowance as soon as I arrive?

No, unfortunately you won't be able to get the allowance straight away. You need to be living in Australia as an Australian resident for 104 days before you can claim the Youth Allowance. http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/payments/ya_residence.htm
