Can I bring my ADSL2 wireless modem to Brisbane or can you not use it with any provider there? Thanks

Yes it will work here. All the electronics are the same. DIck Smith, harvey Normans etc all sell the exact same products.
I brought over a heap of PC gear, everything is fine here. No problem with any ISP and my NZ hardware
