I'm a NZ permanant resident, originally from the UK and have been in NZ for 5 years. But since the earthquakes I want to be with family in Perth. How can i do this and what do I need to do? I honestly don't know where to start! Thanks

My husband and I have been living apart nearly 2 years but I want to be near family- my children's family. My husband wants to go too.... we are still married, what's the best way to go about this?

Hi Muffin07,

There are a number of different options you could look into....

Is your husband a NZ citizen at all? If so, this will make it easier for you to move to Australia as you can probably get the NZ citizen family relationship visa: http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/461/

Otherwise, there is a visa for parents who have children living in Australia which might work for you: http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/family/103/

Apart from family visas, the skilled migrant visa is probably the other best option. Or, you could stay in NZ and get NZ citizenship, and then move to Australia on the special category visa.

I would actually suggest calling the Australian Immigration department as they can help you with what visas would work for you and send you more information :)
