Working on an NZ licence in AUS

Hi there, I have moved to Brisbane QLD and I have a full NZ drivers licence. I thought I could only use my drivers licence here for three months but when I went to the ministry of road transport the ladies there didn't seem to understand my question. Can I get a job which will involve driving cars in Brisbane at a car dealership but on my NZ licence? Or do I need a QLD licence in order to drive while working? Also if someone could clear up the three month rule that would be great as she seemed to think I could drive on my NZ licence indefinitely.
