I'm American with a Kiwi partner. Can we live and work in Australia?

I'm a U.S. citizen, my partner is a New Zealand citizen and we want you to work and live in Australia. What is the process we need to follow to live and work in Australia? Do we need to get married (or does it help) or will a de facto relationship suffice? If so, how do we prove de facto status. Thanks!

Hi there, I am in the same boat and have been living and working here on a Visa subclass 461 (NZ Relationship visa) which is the most suitable visa to be on here in Australia. It is a headache but worth it to live and work here. It is only a temporary visa which you will have to re-apply for every 5 years. To prove a de-facto relationship they would need to see bills, accounts etc in joint names, pictures and invitations to weddings etc also helps. Anything you can show that you are both in a genuine longterm relationship will help. Would like to hear how you go!

Hi,

Just wondering how long the process for subclass 462 took. Thanks.
