Can my partner sponsor my stay in both NZ and Australia if he is a NZ citizen?

My husband is a kiwi and i'm south african. we've been living together in nz for 6 months and he flies in and out to australia as he works there. Im currently working on getting my visa for partnership visa for nz, and would like to visit australia while waiting to find out if my nz visa was successful. Can my husband sponsor my visit to australia as well, seeing that he will be sponsoring my stay in nz?
